Pinwheel activity sheets were distributed to local area schools for children to create unique artwork for each pinwheel for the purpose of awareness and prevention of child abuse. Beginning March 31, 2012 the MCAC Prevention Committee placed pinwheels in and around Omaha and surrounding communities in Douglas and Sarpy County. Please consider taking the time to thank the corporations and owner's of the properties that allowed us to display these pinwheels. These pinwheels were on display for the entire month of April. On April 28 a grant from the Child Abuse Prevention Fund allowed us to create a table display at this years Safety Expo at the Westroads Mall in Omaha. Reusable grocery bags with pinwheel activities, pencils and promotional activities were distributed during the Safety Expo. 1,000 Pinwheels were made available at the Safety Expo and with an additional 700 Pinwheels designed at local area schools, our hope was to blanket areas of our city with the awareness and importance of preventing child abuse. Here are some photos of the pinwheel displays the Prevention Committee placed at Boys Town and Child Saving Institute. Each pinwheel represents child abuse/neglect and sexual abuse victims.
