The MCAC Sexual Abuse Committee seeks to provide collaborative training on the issue of treatment of individuals impacted by Child Sexual Abuse. Please contact the committee chair or note information below in regard to upcoming training events. Best Practices in Child Sexual Abuse A 5-part training program sponsored by Project Harmony, Metropolitan Child Advocacy Coalition, the 1184 Treatment Teams, and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services
Part 1: Reporting and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect 2009 dates completed; 2010 dates TBD Part 2: Understanding and Assessing Child Sexual Abuse November 6, 2009 – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Part 3: Safety Planning in Sexual Abuse Cases January 22, 2010 – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. OR February 5, 2010 – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Part 4: Treatment, Reconciliation, and Reunification April/May dates TBD Part 5: Resources, Supervision, and Professional Development June/July dates TBD
Audience: Licensed mental health practitioners, social workers, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists in Nebraska and Iowa.
Cost: Part 1 is free; the remaining courses are $30 each. Participants must complete the series sequentially; in other words, Part 1 first, then Part 2, and so on.
Referrals: In order to receive referrals from Project Harmony Child Protection Center, licensed mental health practitioners will need to complete the entire series by the end of 2010.
